Topic: TZOMPANTLI

i was hoping to show you some progress in my Game, and fortunatelly i have two videos now.

Basically, this Game TZOMPANTLI is based on an underground comic book here in mexico Called OPERACION BOLIVAR that was published 20 years ago... since then there has been some more derivatuve work from the author in the form of new stories and characters that coexist in the same universe... i met this Guy called Edgar Clément a bit more of a year ago and asked him if i could make a fighting game based on his characters, and he said "Of Course!".

Back then i wanted to make the Game in MUGEN, then in EF-12and lastly my brother showed me UFE and i tought "THAT'S IT, That's a great platform to have a wider audience!"

so far i just LOVE UFE, it's amazing, robust and really easy to understand, my limitations are mny artistic skills and my understanding of unity... but so far i guess i'm doing fine (sorry to ask so many questions here) But well, i want to release a demo soon, and put more concept art and progress images, but until then i wanted to show you.

This looks phenomenal!
Amazing work on the animations and character models. I specially liked how you used cinematic options to launch a character airborne. Let me know when you have a trailer and I'll gladly upload to UFE's channel!

Thanks! i was obviously inspired by the awesome effects in GUILTY GEAR XRD. It needs some polishing but i really liked the effect a lot too!

my brother and I are working hard on this, we hope to have a trailer and a demo for MARCH!

Looking really good there, StriderSpinel!

I love the cel shaded look you have.  I've always found it hard to get cel shading to look right, but you've done well here.  It really suits the characters and style.

Don't apologise for asking questions.  If asking those questions enables you to create what you have here, then feel free to ask more so you can create even better stuff in the future! wink  We're always keen to see more original games made using UFE.

I'm sold on this Idea!  Im not sure what's happening with the winged angel characters as I've never read the comic, but it looks exciting.  I definitely like the art style of your shaders and effects.   Kudos on your development and I look forward to more smile

Dude thats nuts, how are you making the wolf appear like that?  Particle effect?

exactly, the wolf is inside an empty game object turned prefab that i called with the particle effect controller.

before that i added a couple of fixes YumChaGames posted about particle effects

Awesome, this game is coming along very nicely! smile

Are you using the XWeaponTrail mod for hit trails?  You'll get much smoother ones.  Not sure of the bear's claws - you might have to attach one to each claw?... O_o

Also, you should use Live Combo Update.  Your game seems combo centric, so it just makes sense wink.

Thats excellent sir, I love how it looks.  How did you make it so your air attacks dont knock down your opponent?  For example if I pop an opponent into the air, I have to apply y force to him and the player to keep them in the air long enough to string more hits. 

I noticed at around 1:47 in the video youre using aerial moves on a standing opponent.  Shes not falling down.  Then around 1:55 of your video you pop the opponent in the air and string those moves together.

If I try to lead into a ground combo with an air attack the y force causes the opponent to just fall over.  I see that you were able to avoid that in this video.  How did you set that up?

Yeah, i know what you mean, i used that technique too, but it was annoying that any attack would make the opponent fall even when standing.

what i found really useful was this:

as you can see, this is the move you said but in the FORCE OPTIONS of my hit i checked the Reset x & Y forces, with this, when this move hits, the inertia that the opponent has (like sending it airbone) resets so it won't fall to the ground like a stone. the opponent is still under the influence of gravity, so is your character, but this makes chaining air combos so more easy, all i have to calculate is the distance i launch the oppnent:

didn't know xweapontrail was free! i must download it soon !

as for the combo centric, yes, you're right, i taugh this was a more conservative fighting game, but more and more it develops into a more agressive and fast paced one...

i'll change to live combo update...

Not really, i made  some tests in a character for another project using shapekeys and it worked well, but i was working with this characters in another engine and they didn't support them, so i changed to actual bones, so the facial animation is just some more joints in there, nothing special, but it does the Trick!

HI everyone!

struggling to make some progress with work and school pushing me to my limits... recently bought the CONTROL FREAK add on and the port for android is working great, but a release date is still a little ambiguous (my brother insisted in helping me with the AI, and is taking a bit longer that i taught...)
nevertheless, the characters are ready, the sounds are placeholders, but i have 4 stages with a bit more complex lighting done...

what do you think?

The game has come a long very nicely.  Great style and good animations.

I love your cel shaded style, but I feel the red and blue light flashing is either too frequent or too saturated.  Basically, I'm worried that in mirror matches you would easily get confused which character is which.  My suggestion would be to either make it only effect a limited area (so only part of each character is lit by the red/blue light), or only effect the character partially like by a rim light or similar, or tone down the saturation so it's a more subtle change.
