Topic: Fighting Generation (Working Title)

Here are some first impressions of our fighting-game. It's a "just-for-fun"-project and in a very early state.

Please note, that some of the graphics, characters ,backgrounds , sounds and animations are only dummies.

Update: new screenshots & video

Me encontraste en un negro camino como un peregrino sin rumbo ni fe, pero la luz de tus ojos divinos cambió mi suerte por dicha y placer.

Re: Fighting Generation (Working Title)

Wow, looks so SLICK! Good work, Shubi. big_smile

Your UI is super pro looking, very nice.

That last screenshot is gold, great action shot with cinematic camera.

This looks VERY good!

I'm really excited to watch the trailer. And I agree with YumChaGames, that last screenshot is sick!

Here is a short ingame-video.

Please note, that some of the graphics, characters ,backgrounds , sounds and animations are only dummies. In the final version of the game every fighter will have his own move-set.
There are still a lot of bugs with some animations, sounds etc, but the video should give you a first idea of what you can expect.

Man, I love your throw animations, they have a nice impact to them.

That UI is so pro, I can't get over how slick it all looks!

This should silence any doubts to what the engine is capable of.

Good stuff.

I'd put my faith in shubi. The engine def doesn't come like that.

Like any engine, you get out of it what you put into it.

Re: Fighting Generation (Working Title)

Dude, your game looks incredible!  I have to learn how you made your GUI look like that.  Currently training myself.  And your throws look top notch.

Re: Fighting Generation (Working Title)

Thank you for your feedback. Im very glad you like our project smile

Regarding the Engine: In my opinion UFE is a very powerful tool. We always wanted to create our own fighting game and tried several engines/tools. Unity3D and UFE is by far the best solution we have found.
@admins: Keep up the great work on UFE and thank you for your awesome support here at the forum.  smile

Hi Shubi,

Can you use NGUI for this great UI ? or you have use or normal GUI ?

We simply modified the original GUI-scripts from the UFE-sample project. We did not use NGUI or other editor extensions. All UI-elements have been created in Photoshop (PNG-files) and placed inside the OnGUI-functions of the UFE-scripts.

Re: Fighting Generation (Working Title)

Looks great

Re: Fighting Generation (Working Title)

Hello Shubi. I am creating a game using UFE and paid someone to create and add grapple animations in the game for me. The animations are not connecting correctly, for instance the fighters land and respawn in the wrong areas and such. Would I be able to pay you to fix these issues for me? The animations are already created and in UFE but the issues are killing them and I have no experience in this area.

Re: Fighting Generation (Working Title)

Great work Shubi. Mercurial slick!  Hope you don't mind if I could pick your brain, at about 1:13 of your video you have a throw move that switches sides.  When the throw victim gets up it looks pretty slick.  I can't seem to get the victim to get up with out very glitchy looking turning around, often while laying down...  any tips you could provide at making these side-switching throw anims sync up with switching sides?  I have about 8 or so throws that I can't seem to get slick-i-fied.  smile
Thx, and again, good work.

Re: Fighting Generation (Working Title)

Over-the-head-throws cause a lot of problems and we were not able to find a "clean" solution for this (mostly rotation problems).
But to fake a smooth transition we did this: We included the the standup-animation to the throw-animations. The animation ends at the frame, where the character is facing the camera during his standup-animation:

http://s27.postimg.org/ahdooikr7/standup.jpg

From there we use the blending feature to fake the rest of the standup-animation.

Re: Fighting Generation (Working Title)

So, to clarify, the throw victim animation and get up animation were merged into one animation or do you transition directly from one ufe move to the other? I've tried transitioning directly into the getup anim from the victim anim but the engine decides to auto flip them around when it transitions. My attempts at merging the anims didn't go so well as I'm most definitely a noob at animation.  I'll have to play with it some more...  Thanks!

Re: Fighting Generation (Working Title)

Both animations were merged together inside Character Studio (3DS MAX) and exported as ONE animation.

Re: Fighting Generation (Working Title)

Could you elaborate a bit more on how you used the blending feature to transition to the full standing position?  I can't seem to get any setting of the "Override Blending (Out)" to work...  I have my combined animation ending halfway up facing the right direction much like your screenshot  but as soon as the anim ends it pauses while the debugger shows it remains stunned for a number of frames (I can't seem to prevent this either, I think it's because it is a throw override???), then jumps back to the ground and does the standard get up animation...  If you are not opposed to maybe posting a few screen shots of your settings in the move file that would be wonderful.

Also, in your config what are your Character Rotation options set as? Nothing I changed here seemed to help either though...

And I suppose your settings for your "Stand up" character anims would affect it as well???

and hit type/strength/effects?  Oi my head is swimming...

If you prefer, you can PM me so I don't hog up your showcase post.  I also have an older post where I discussed my dilemma...
http://www.ufe3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=543   Once I get this figured out I'll post my steps there as well...

Thx again for your time...

man I would love an option in a move to count it as ending with correct rotation.
