Topic: Using weapons in ufe with playmaker

Sorry for the duplicate post, this seems to be the more appropriate place as it involves character design.

Here I describe my approach to using melee weapons with ufe without having the character on the right facing away from the camera.

Re: Using weapons in ufe with playmaker

Pardon the echo!  It's my first tutorial ever and my mic sucks.  hmm

Something to understand with my setup is that moves involving weapons need to only use the custom bones 2-5 and these bones should be off limits for non-weapon moves as they swap sides from left to right and vice versa just like a right and left hand or foot hitbox would.  \

I suppose I should include the link here as well that explains this...

This is quite a good tutorial! This will definitely help anyone interested in weapon usage in their UFE games.

Re: Using weapons in ufe with playmaker

I'm glad I saw this tutorial. Some of my characters have weapons in my game and use them in combat... I was gonna do stuff like have the weapon patented in my 3D app and bake it in

Re: Using weapons in ufe with playmaker

Definitely not my approach, the swords are separate objects childed to the bones of the prefab (not the fbx itself) but if there is anything I need to explain better let me know.  I would say if you plan on having the weapons baked in to only one hand or the other and you don't mind the player with his/her back toward the camera while on the right side it is by far the simplest approach

Re: Using weapons in ufe with playmaker

Thankfully my game plays like Tekken so this will not be an issue... no mirroring like in other 2.5D games...
