Chain Move fix in 1.8 to 1.7

Reading the changelog I saw that, apparently, the version 1.8 solved a problem I was having with one of the players not being able to use chain moves

the problem is that right now it's not feasible for me to upgrade from 1.7 to 1.8, as that would break a bunch of stuff that I simply don't have time right now to try and deal with. As this is the only problem I'm having with 1.7, and I do have access to 1.8 as I've bought the UFE Bundle, I wanna know if there's a way for me to "backport"  that 1.8 fix to my modified 1.7, as just fixing that seems to save me way more time than trying to upgrade the entire UFE.
