Topic: UFE 2 official release and more news

As some of you know, Unity has recently removed their old network system from version 2018.2, deprecating all versions of UFE 1.x and P2P Network addon.


Because of that, and thanks to Unity's upgrade options, I decided to reconsider and go for a new approach regarding UFE 2 and future releases of the product:
UFE 2 will be replacing UFE 1.x under new price tags (see below), and once a year (or longer, depending on development cycles) UFE will receive a major upgrade and will be re-released with several options for recurring customers.

Expect UFE 2 to be released within the next week or so. I'll reply to this topic as soon as I send the packages and again when they get approved.



Notes:

  • UFE 1 will be removed from the Asset Store as soon as UFE 2.0 is approved, but you'll still be able to download it through your Asset Store account.

  • If you'd like early access (PRO, Source and Enterprise only) e-mail me at mistermind@live.com. I'll transfer your license to Unity once the product is available.

  • If you bought your addons separately, email/PM so I can consider you for the next upgrade tier.

  • Those who bought UFE 1.x Basic or PRO up to 90 days ago will receive grace days and can upgrade to UFE 2 Lite at 0 cost.

  • Those who bought UFE 1.x Source or Bundle up to 90 days ago will receive grace days and can upgrade to UFE 2 Standard at 0 cost.

  • Like UFE 1, once you have UFE 2 you can upgrade to any higher tier at any moment by just paying the difference.

Just a question.
I bought UFE 1.x Bundle last year (2017). When the note says: "Those who bought UFE 1.x Source or Bundle 90 days or less before 2.0 release will receive grace days and can upgrade to UFE 2 Standard at 0 cost", it means that I will get UFE 2 Standard to upgrade without any cost?

No. Grace days are only valid for those who bought the product within the last 3 months (90 days). I've updated the description to be more clear.

I don't understand. In this topic, it says that UFE 2 will not replace UFE 1.x.  But now I read in this thread and it does.

What will happen who those that have UFE 1.x? Are they going to have to pay again for UFE 2? (considering that you've mentioned that UFE 1.x will be removed from Unity Asset Store)

Unity changed their protocols, I had to do the same. As stated in the Notes, UFE 1 will still be available to download, and if you don't want to upgrade your Unity to 2018.2, you don't need UFE 2.

I wish to upgrade if it has support of local match (LAN game using wifi hot spot) without IP typing.
If it works as other LAN game we see in mobile it worth to upgrade for sure.

Taking a look at this page (http://www.ufe3d.com/doku.php/global:network), you won't need to type IP's in order to connect to another user in UFE 2, LAN games can be searched for on the local network via the UI, similar to most other mobile games with LAN support.

Hi, Mistermind! Sorry for asking again. But I have a little doubt.

I read completly this thread and I saw that there are discounts depending of the UFE 1 version (Basic, Pro, Source, Bundle).
In my case, I have the Bundle version. And I have interest for the UFE 2 Basic.

Considering that the UFE 2 Basic, as the table shows, has Mecanim Support, Random AI and Fuzzy AI, if I buy UFE 2 Basic, are there any posibilities to programming UFE 2 Basic as if it were the UFE 1.x Bundle?

If you don't need to alter the source code of UFE, any version below Source is good enough for you. If Network is not a priority, stick with UFE 2 Basic. If later you decide to upgrade, I can give you some store credit based on the total spent (UFE 1 + UFE 2).

You can but you will need to rely on UFE events such as OnHit, OnBlock, OnParry and OnMove:

You can't change or add options in the editor windows this way, meaning all values need to be injected through code or a different interface.
Either way, such task requires some good code knowledge and advance understanding of UFE and C#. If you think you can do it, go for it.

I recommend you buy Basic first, get used to the Engine and try the first approach. If you feel its not working out, upgrade.

Well, I was programming with UFE 1.x and C# and changing options in some editor windows like I've done and shown in this thread
Anyway, my doubt was if in UFE 2 Basic I could change code for add personal features for my game like in UFE 1.x Bundle. And if I understand that you say, it is possible.
